I think that it is fair to say that us bloggers like to shop a lot, especially beauty and fashion bloggers. It's very hard to resist the latest makeup launch or the seemingly everlasting clothing sales so if you are going to spend money why not get back as much as possible from your purchase. I think everyone has at least one advantage card of some sort sitting in their purse or wallet these days, most shops have a scheme or card that you can sign up to where you can earn points and rewards these days. I thought it might be helpful to recommend my personal favourites and a few others that might be worth trying, if it's free to sign up then why not go for it?
COSTA COFFEE CLUB
When it comes to grabbing your morning coffee or sitting down for a hot chocolate in the afternoon I think everyone has a preference between Starbucks and Costa, personally I'm a Costa girl and mainly because of the Coffee Club. It's free to sign up to and definitely worth doing so in my opinion, even if you aren't in Costa often. It's easy to sign up for and you get 5 points for every £1 that you spend in there. Each point then turns into 1p so when I pop in to get a hot chocolate I get about 15p back and the points really do add up quickly. You can spend your points on a drink or food in Costa, so eventually I'll be able to pop in and get my drink for free simply because I signed up to the Coffee Club! Being part of this also means that you'll be first to know about any new promotions or offers and there is even an app to go alongside it so you can check your points on the go. Like I said beforehand, even if you don't go in there everyday I think it is worth signing up for this.
BOOTS ADVANTAGE CARD
This is definitely one of the most well known advantage cards out there but it still surprises me when I come across people who don't have one tucked away in their purse. Of course it's a staple for any beauty blogger but with the wide range of products that Boots sell I think that everyone should sign up for this. You get 4 points back for every £1 you spend online or in store and like Costa each point turns into 1p. There are lots of other positives that come with this card though, firstly you can pick up the Boots Health and Beauty magazine for free if you have an advantage card, it usually costs £1. You'll also receive extra money off and points vouchers in the post, I never used to receive these but I've just started getting some in the post! If you are a parent as well you can sign up for the parenting club which means you'll get 10 points back for every £1 you spend on baby products, you can imagine that the points would really add up quickly there! Also if you are over 60 you'll receive 10 points for every £1 you spend on Boots branded products and No7. You can spend the points in store and online, there are some exceptions on what you can spend them on but not many, check the website for more details. Personally this is my favourite advantage card, not only do you collect points but you also get so many other extras with it!
HOLLAND & BARRETT REWARDS FOR LIFE CARD
I haven't actually gotten around to signing up to this one yet after my sister told me about it but from what I've read about it and what she has said it is definitely worth mentioning, now would be the perfect time to sign up as well as everyone seems to be on a bit of a health kick. With this card when you sign up they automatically give you 150 points when you activate your card, for free! Each point is worth a pound so already you'll have £1.50 to spend which is something that other rewards cards don't do. After that every £1 you spend will earn you 4 points, when you shop both online or in store. The points then turn into rewards coupons which you can either have posted to you or emailed to you, you qualify to receive a coupon as soon as you have 50 points. As well as receiving the coupons you'll also get access to exclusive offers and you'll be the first to hear about new products. If you've decided to eat a bit healthier this year then this could definitely be an incentive, knowing that you're earning points whilst making healthy decisions.
Other cards worth giving a small mention to as well include the Superdrug Beautycard, however you only earn 1 point for every £1 spent in there which is a little low but the points will add up over time. Also what I like about the Superdrug card is that you can part pay for things with your points, if you haven't got enough points to pay for something you can pay the remaining amount with cash or by card which Boots doesn't offer. Finally it isn't an advantage card as such but if you use trains a lot and are between the ages of 16-25 then it might be worth taking a look at the 16-25 railcard. I recently signed up and it cost £30 for a year and with that you get a third off of train tickets which is quite a lot and also other rewards and money off some shops and places.
If you want to recommend any other advantage cards do feel free to in the comments below, if I talked about them all I would have been here all day!
