Since antiquity, many authoritative people, divine beings, or common ghosts appeared in human dreams giving them suggestions, warnings, or predictions; for example in Iliad, Zeus appears to Agamemnon to mislead him during the siege of Troy, also it is said that after a dream King Xerxes decided to invade Greece. These two episodes reveal to us that humankind has been inspired by dreams both good and bad.
Actually, dreams and nightmares are even today a very powerful means to tell stories; David Lynch, Federico Fellini, Jean Cocteau, and dozens of other filmmakers scattered through the world, used them as metaphors to describe society. But for intellectual honesty, we must clarify that nightmares have been more portrayed than dreams, because, well… they are funnier!
This idea is not limited to paper or celluloid, we bet that at least once all of us enjoyed interactive adventures set in the oniric dimension; titles like Catherine, or The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening allowed us to experience actual daydreams far far away from reality. But they are not the only ones; in fact, there is a tiny gem who offers another tale similar to the unforgettable ones made by Neil Gaiman or Henry Selick; we are referring to Little Nightmares!
Little children are hugely brave!
Released in 2018 for PlayStation 4 & Xbox One; Little Nightmares is a horror game in which we control a 9 years old girl called Six. Her mission is to run away from The Maw, a sort of underwater hotel where a big amount of monsters live. As tradition wants all of them are greedy of human flesh, and what's better than a tender child for banqueting? So, in this first chapter, we are called to help Six escape from The Maw possibly in one piece. Featuring innovative gameplay solutions, aesthetically beautiful graphics, and an unforgettable horror atmosphere; Little Nightmares is surely one of the most interesting projects of the last generation of consoles. So, with trepidation, we can't really wait to play with the brand new Little Nightmares II for PS5, PS4, NS, XBXS & XB1!
Two are the gates of shadowy dreams!
Six is back, and this time she's not alone; in Little Nightmares II for PS5, PS4, NS, XBXS & XB1 the heroic yellow (rain)coated child finds herself in a desolated dark world in which a tower continues to transmit a mysterious signal.
Placed at the center of Pale City; the tower brainwashes the minds of all the people who live in the city. Controlled by the shadowy Thin Man; everybody is subjugated by its signal who created nothing else but an army of slaves. But… there is always a but… Six and her new friend Mono seems the only ones who are not affected by the Tower's transmission. So, both of them are determined to unveil the secret behind it and its controller to find a way to escape from the city (and stop the signal forever).
Just like a true dream, Little Nightmares II for PS5, PS4, NS, XBXS & XB1 is a different game for different people; we have to deal with bizarre situations, mind-shaking puzzles, platformers challenges, and all those things that whet the imagination. We know that some people will find it absolutely funny while some others will find it quite strange unsettling, you decide; but in any case, it is the most original adventure of this quarter!
Explore the depths of this new nightmare digitally or physically; use all of your smartness, wits, and courage to unravel all the mystery behind the signal tower before it's too late. But be careful; the Thin Man really wants to stop Mono and Six, and we are ready to help them!
