Sam Bathrick's documentary focuses on inmates in Virginia who end up collaborating with Grammy-winning hip-hop performer Todd "Speech" of the group Arrested Development.

Chadwick Boseman ("Black Panther") stars as an NYPD detective on the hunt for a pair of cop killers. J.K. Simmons, Taylor Kitsch and Sienna Miller co-star.

In this drama based on a true story, Matthew Rhys ("The Americans") plays a cynical, hard-bitten journalist whose life is enriched by meeting Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks). It's directed by Marielle Heller, who made "Can You Ever Forgive Me?"

Melina Matsoukas, who made a name for herself directing episodes of such socially aware small-screen projects as "Insecure" and "Master of None" as well as Beyoncé's "Lemonade," comes to the big screen with a drama about a couple who find their lives forever changed after a police officer pulls them over. The cast is certainly noteworthy: Daniel Kaluuya ("Get Out"); Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers; Chloe Sevigny; Jodie Turner-Smith ("The Last Ship"); Indya Moore ("Pose"); singer Sturgill Simpson; Bokeem Woodbine (the TV series "Underground") and Benito Martinez ("House of Cards," "How to Get Away with Murder").

Hindi-language action-comedy from India about a tourist group whose vacation takes a strange turn.

"Waves"

Houstonian director Trey Edward Shults latest drama, about a Florida black family in crisis, delivers a knockout punch, thanks to his visual style and strong performances from Sterling K. Brown and Kelvin Harrison Jr. among others. It played to a sell-out crowd on the opening night of the Houston Cinema Arts festival last week.
