| Review | Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue
I am honestly very torn when it comes to Charlotte Tilbury skincare products because while they are marketed as luxurious, rich, and extremely beneficial products, I have a hard time believing in all the benefits and claims. I know I will probably receive a lot of backlash for my opinions on this but this is honestly how I feel.
I love Charlotte Tilbury and her makeup line, a lot! She has created a beautiful line of makeup products that are very high quality, luxurious, and beautiful but when it comes to skincare, I have a hard time trusting her. She has made it very clear in public interviews that she wears makeup to bed! To bed! Which in my book, is blasphemous! Not only it is extremely unsanitary but you cover your skin when makeup, which prevents it from breathing and having a break from makeup. I love makeup in an extreme and unhealthy way but I can't imagine wearing makeup to bed! If you want your makeup to look beautiful, you have to treat your skin first! That doesn't just mean skin prep before makeup but a skincare regimen that is actually going to treat your skin! Which means you shouldn't be wearing makeup to bed! So I have a hard time believing that her skincare line is actually formulated to treat the skin, I feel like it is formulated only to prep the skin for makeup.
So you're probably wondering why I own this product, if I don't trust her skincare formulations, well I received it in a Magic Mystery Box, you can read about it here.
On to the actual product...
The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue retails or $60.00 USD and is available at Charlotte Tilbury, Nordstrom, and other retailers. The product is housed in the classic octagonal plastic jar with a rose gold top, that you see with her Magic Cream. Frankly, it looks more luxurious than it actually is.
The product looks almost identical to the magic cream. It has a thicker gel-balmy consistency and a beige coloring. It is extremely emollient and rich! It applies on very smoothly and feels cooling to the eye area. It offers a nice hydration and glow to the under eye area. It really creates a beautiful fresh look under the eyes. It preps my under eyes very well for makeup but my biggest concern after using it for sometime is that it is too rich and clogging! It seems to have cause milia (little bumps) under my eyes because the formula is overly rich and heavy! I know that this i the cause of the milia because I had not changed any other parts of my skincare routine with the exception of this product. I stopped using it after a week and saw a significant decrease in the size and amount of milia. Unfortunately, I am still suffering from those nasty little bumps, even though it has been weeks since I last used the eye cream but my eyes are getting better. I know they will go away over time if I discontinue use of these heavy products.
Here's a look the ingredients:
As I suspected, this eye cream does little to treat the skin but more to create a nice glowing effect and provide some hydration. For the high price tag, I would expect a much better formulation and ingredients. I wish I could salvage this product and use it in other ways since I have it but I'm very worried about the reaction my skin will have to it. I don't have sensitive skin so I was pretty shocked when I notice the effect this product had on my skin. I am now using some chemical exfoliants and retinol to treat my skin and hopefully continue to diminish the milia. I am a little sad because I did like the glowing effect of this product and the texture but clearly this formula is not for me.
