On Sunday the announcement was made that the latest H&M X Designer collaboration would be with Alexander Wang. In recent years H&M has offered consumers several collaborations with high profile designers, including Maison Martin Margiela and most recently Isabel Marant, this latest collaboration with Alexander Wang is set to be highly anticipated. The Californian born designer who is a firm favourite at NYFW, and also the creative director at Balenciaga, announced the collaboration on his Instagram page, and a party celebrating the collaboration was held at Coachella over the weekend. At only 30 years old, Wang is a designer who greatly appeals to H&M's target demographic, many aspiring to own pieces from his mainline collection. His effortlessly cool collections are already at a more affordable price point compared to many other designers on the bill at NYFW, with most pieces priced between £400 and £900.
So what can we expect to see in the collection? Well we already know that the collection will feature both womenswear and menswear, plus accessories, so there will be a lot to choose from. I'm expecting a predominantly black and grey colour palette, classic everyday basics with a sporty edge, perhaps some asymmetric cuts, a textured tote bag and I would be very surprised if we didn't see a nod to the most coveted piece from his S/S 14 collection - the 'Parental Advisory' sweatshirt.
The Alexander Wang X H&M collection will be unveiled on November 6th...expect to see queues around the block!!!
But for now, I thought I would take a look back at previous designer collaborations with H&M.
