Red Carpet Jewelry: 2013 SAG Awards

      In the early days of Hollywood stars frequently wore their own jewels to award ceremonies.  Today almost all of the jewels on the red carpet are borrowed.  That translates to bigger bling - stars can walk the red carpet in millions of dollars worth of jewelry.  Luxury brands such as Harry Winston and Tiffany's often loan prized pieces that can cost millions.  Of course, these expensive accessories come with a full-time security guard who accompanies the celebrity and the jewelry to make sure nothing happens to either.  Sunday's Screen Actors Guild awards provided a feast for the eyes in gorgeous jewelry.

     Bare shoulders were adorned with beautiful necklaces.  Jessica Chastain looked stunning in a $1.25 million Harry Winston necklace that combined pear-shaped and round brilliant cut diamonds in a fluid waterfall of gems.

Jennifer Lawrence wore a 38 carat diamond necklace and 6 carat emerald-cut diamond stud earrings by Chopard.

Marion Cotillard dazzled in a diamond necklace also by Chopard.

Helen Hunt paired a diamond Choker by Neil Lane with a bevy of bangles and diamond earrings.

Amanda Seyfried went for a more youthful, long Lorraine Schwartz art-deco pendant.

Another unique piece was Michelle Dockery's gold and diamond wrapped snake bracelet that she paired with drop earrings.

 Naomi Watts added a eye-popping ring to a pair of diamond earrings, all by Faberge.
     It was a fun night for jewelry-watching.  The Academy Awards, scheduled for February 24, promise to be even more sparkly!
